Paper Weave card tutorial with Basic Grey Sun Kissed

Ok, so when's the last time you may have done paper weaving?  I'm up on the FotoBella blog with my latest design team project and tutorial on how to make a card, weaving paper.  The collection featured is Basic Grey Sun Kissed from Fotobella.com.

You can make this too!  Visit FotoBella.com for your Basic Grey Sun Kissed supplies and follow this tutorial.

Paper:  Cadence, Wildflower, Droplet, Wingspan; Title Sticker Sheet, Die Cuts, Black & White Card Stock
Tools:
·       Dark Brown Ink
·       Scissors
·       Ruler
·       Stickles
·       Adhesive
·       Scallop Circle Punch 2 ½”
·       Circle punch 2 ¼”

1.  Cut strips of paper approx. ¼” wide by 12” long.

2.  Cut the 12” strips in half so that they measure 6”.

3.  For the base of the card, cut a piece of white cardstock so it measures 8” wide and 12” long.

4.  Fold the card stock in half so that the face of the card measures 4” wide and 6” long.

5.  Line up the strips of paper vertically along the face of the card in the pattern that you like.

6.  Holding the bottom of the strips with one hand begin weaving the first strip along the top, horizontally.  The weaving is done by going under one strip and then over the next, repeating the pattern across the strips of paper, until the end.

7.  The second strip should be woven in the opposite pattern than the first strip (ie:  over, under, over under..)  Once the first couple horizontal strips are woven in, place a ruler to hold the top while weaving in the rest of the paper strips.

8.  Continue weaving the paper all the way to the bottom of the card, adjusting the spacing and alternating paper patterns along the way.

9.  Based on the spacing I had 8 vertical strips of paper and 13 horizontal strips.  This will vary based on how tight you space and weave the paper.  The goal is to cover the whole face of the card.

10.  Flip over the weaved paper and apply glue back and forth across the rows of paper.

11.  Adhere the weaved paper to the front of the card. Line it up so all the edges line up with the base of the card, The horizontal strips will hang over on both sides and need to be trimmed down.

12.  Flip the card over and cleanly trim off the excess paper strips, using scissors and following the edge of the white cardstock.

13.  Once the edges are trimmed this is what the front of the card should look like.

14.  Go around the edges and glue down any strips that are loose.  You want everything completely glued down to the card base.

15.  Punch a 2 1/2” scallop circle out of black card  stock and a 2 ¼” circle out of white card stock.

16.  Layer the white circle on top of the black scallop.  Place the pink vellum die cut on top of the white card stock.

17.  What it should look like with all the shapes layered.

18.  Select the Triangle Sticker from the Title StickerSheet with the sentiment “U Are Simply Wonderful” and layer on to the white cardstock.

19.  Using Black Diamond and Silver stickles, embellish the die cut and the scallop circle.

And drumroll please....

Have a fabulous day!

Bo Bunny Dear Santa Christmas Card Layout

What will you be busy doing once you finish carving up that Thanksgiving turkey?   Christmas shopping? Holiday cards? Spending time with friends and family and holiday paper crafting!?!  I know I'll be doing all of the above!

Bo Bunny's Dear Santa Collection from FotoBella is a great way to persevere those memories you create during the holidays and make some fabulous Christmas projects.    Every year I send out Christmas cards with family photos and I keep one from each year so that I can scrapbook them.  I'm sharing this layout today with our family Christmas card from 2010.

I wanted the card to be the focal point of the page, and used a variety of papers to layer behind it to pick up the colors from the card.

I chose the dear, arrow and holly berries from the Bo Bunny Dear Santa ephemera pack for embellishing.

I added a cute border along the bottom of the card that comes in the I Want It All bundle.  This layout is really very simple in design and only takes a short time to make.

Visit FotoBella.com and get your Dear Santa I Want It All bundle right away!  You need it to get your Christmas craft on!  Hurry, these bundles sell out quick!  I've missed out on a few myself, so go, go go!

EEK It's Something Wicked!

It's spectacularly spooky at our house now!  My Mind's Eye Something Wicked has a little bit to do with that!!  It's such an awesome Halloween collection and FotoBella.com has the I Want It All Bundle just waiting for you!

One of my obsessions this year has been the DIY marquee lights from Heidi Swapp.  I couldn't not wait to make a set to go with my Halloween decor, complete with orange and purple lights!  These letters are a piece of cake to do and fully customizable.

It comes with the letter template so you simply trace cut and paste the letter shape into the marquee, add the lights, and decorate the outside edge if you please.

The outside of these letters I covered with black glitter tape.  It really makes the letters pop!  EEK!

Get ready for Halloween with Something Wicked!

Bo Bunny Juliet Layout

I must confess....I'm in love with Bo Bunny's Juliet collection.  Have you seen it?   The I Want It All Bundle from FotoBella.com is packed full of fabulous stuff!  I especially adore the roses and fleur de lis in this collection!

Today I'm sharing a layout for FotoBella's Design Team using this collection of me and my hunny from when we were in Aspen, CO for a wedding.

There are a lot of layers in this layout.  Each layer has a torn edge and all edges are inked so that they stand out against each other.  I kept the colors light so that the eye would be more drawn to the photo in the center.

I took some gold twine and laid it down between some of the layers, fussy cut the roses and "My Beloved" sticker for the embellishments.

A few things that aren't included in the bundle but found it's way on this layout are Stickles and sequins.  I used the Stickles to add sparkles to the roses and randomly glued the sequins throughout the layout.

Check out the Bo Bunny Juliet I Want It All Bundle at FotoBella.com so you can get started on your own fabulous projects.

"Sweet" Cotton Candy Card

Hello, hello everyone!  Hope the weekend was great and you had a little time to get crafty.  Today I'm sharing a card made with Bo Bunny Carnival I Want It All Bundle from FotoBella.com.  The card is fun and bright with lots of *sparkle*.

I loved the cotton candy embellishments in this collection.  I fussy cut the cotton candy shape and added some Diamond stickles to the dark, shaded parts of the fluffy cotton candy cloud of goodness, to make it look even more yummy!

Because I really wanted to call attention to the cotton candy and the "Sweet" sentiment I popped it up off the Marquee shape and outlined the starburst design with Stickles also.

I didn't add any additional sentiment or title, since I'm not sure what event I'll need this card for yet.  But it could easily be used for a "Sweet Sixteen" themed card, "You're Sweet" or "Thank you" card.  That's the beauty of handmade cards, they can be customized to fit what you need it for!

Supplies used from the Carnival Bundle:  Side Show Paper, Cotton Candy Paper, Metal brads-Ephemera.

Have a fabulous day!

Love You Beyond The Stars Layout

Hello This fabulous bundle from FotoBella is Bo Bunny Star-Crossed.  I love the dark red color and light green combo in this collection!  There are some fun choices out of the Ephemera for embellishing as well.

I've been saving this photo of my youngest daughter and I for just the perfect scrapbook paper, and this is it!  The photo goes so well with this color scheme.  It is one of my favorite photos of us and I wanted to do it justice.

A close up of some of the embellishments from glitter chipboard stickers. playing cards and journal cards.  I did my journaling around the heart on the playing card for something a little different.

This heart with wings is by far my favorite embellishment of the collection!  Love it!

Stop by FotoBella.com to take a look at this bundle and be sure to have a fabulous day!
