Christmas Card Album

Several years ago I made a mini album to hold my Christmas cards.  I use the album every year and I love it but somehow it never holds all the Christmas cards I receive.  That gave me the idea to make a second one with the beautiful My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas collection.  I've been working with this collection all month for Fotobella and honestly I was just looking for another excuse to use it again!

The first thing I did was go through all the paper and decide what would be the cover and the backgrounds for the inside pages.  I kept it simple and cut the 12"x12" paper into 6"x12" pages for the album.

The Cover

All of pages of pockets to tuck cards into and some of the pages have more than one pocket so that the cards can be layered on the pages and kept from falling out.

On this page, the Holly Paper and the brown Peace paper or both pockets.

When placing the embellishments, I was careful not allow them to block access to the pocket by either removing the sticky part of the sticker or only placing adhesive on part of it.

For some of the embellishments I hand cut shapes such as the holly leaves and ornaments seen on this page.

Here is a close up of a Christmas card tucked into the side pocket of this page.

And on this page, the side green brackets are also pockets.

I bound the album using my Zutter, Bind It All.  Tied some raffia and dangly embellishments on to the spiral rings and now its ready for it's first round of Christmas Greeting and Wishes!

The papers and embellishments are really awesome in this collection and practically does the work for you when putting a project together.  Hope this has inspired you to make your own album.

Hope you have a fabulous day!

All I Want For Christmas

My latest inspiration to come from the My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas Collection is a Christmas list.  Every year, my kids leave Santa their list of requests.  This is usually composed on a piece of torn out notebook paper and a crayon, at the last minute on Christmas Eve.  I attempt to save these with plans to scrapbook them....not sure that has actually happened yet!  Maybe I'll have better luck with this one!

The notebook patterned paper was the base of this project, naturally.  The embellishments are the chipboard pennants and button with twine.  I used the clear stamps at the bottom of the page and added a few rhinestones.

I tested it out on a 12x12 piece of patterned paper from the collection and it's going to look great next to the photo of each of my kids.  Now I can't wait to use it!  Stop by Fotobella.com to get the bundle of goodies from this collection and you can make your own!

Christmas Joy

Hello there Fotobella friends!  I've been busy working with this beautiful My Mind's Eye Vintage Christmas Collection.  It's such a great collection and I am loving this "Joy" background paper and the beautiful brown color.  When I spotted this paper I instantly set it aside to use for a layout.

I did something a little different than I usually do and that is add craft paint to my layout.  I've been wanting to apply this technique to my work for awhile now....and finally I have!  I used white craft paint and a sponge brush and aimlessly applied the paint to the paper.  That gave me the background of the layout to begin building the layers.

Here I made this flower using the Imaginisce 16mm punch.

I added some of the chipboard elements from the collection.

I wanted this layout to have an ecclectic but classic feel.  Ecclectic in the way of using the craft paint and the slightly sporadic placement of the embellishments and the classic look by using the traditional Christmas colors and patterns.

Have a fabulous day!

Baby Beautiful Altered Frame

With summer winding down and the kids off to school, I'm busy getting ready to welcome a new bundle of joy to our family in just a few weeks.   I could think of nothing more fitting for my Designer A Day project with Imaginisce, than a beautiful altered frame to hold my baby girl's first photo.  Without a doubt, the Love You More Collection is the perfect choice for this project.  I've had a craft frame from Michael's in my stash and finally put it to good use!

With the Imaginisce I-bond hot glue gun I glued the background paper right onto the frame and then began layering borders and embellishments on the frame.

I hand cut the pennant flags, lacing them with the twine for the background of the title at the top of the frame.  I just love the Alpha stickers in this collection and created the Baby Beautiful title with them.

There is so much love and excitement in our family right now as we anxiously await the baby's arrival and I think that this altered frame perfectly captures that.  I can't wait to put the first newborn photo in it!

Visit Imaginisce throughout the month to see what the rest of the Design Team has been up to for the Designer A Day projects.

Supplies:  Love You More Collection, I Bond Hot Glue Gun, The Twinery baker's twine, foam tape, craft frame from Michaels.

Merry Christmas Tag

Have you seen My Mind's Eye's new Christmas Collection, Vintage Christmas?  If not, you must!  It's to die for.  I've been working with it for Fotobella's Design Team and I'm in love.

My latest creation is a Christmas tag.

Quite simple to put together.  I chose just a few papers, cut out a heart matted it by cutting a scalloped heart and placed it in the center.

I had to cut the chipboard arrow in order to place the two ends behind the heard and place the center piece on top of the heart. Added the chipboard arrow behind the heart and then added the layered Merry Christmas Sticker.  I tied some copper raffia at the top of the tag and viola!
