Sparkle & Shine Layouts

Are you ready for a dose of Holiday Cheer? I’m here to share several layouts I put together for Fotobella.com with the We R Memory Keepers Yuletide-I Want It All Bundle. Yuletide is a beautiful Christmas line full of traditional Christmas colors and designs. The “I Want It All” Bundle is packed with fabulous paper and tons of embellishments! Believe me…you want it ALL!
After spreading the entire bundle contents out on the table, I set to work creating an eye-catching 12x12 layout. I wanted a layout that matched the festiveness portrayed in my photo.

Sparkle Layout

I selected the ‘Poinsettia’ paper as my background and began layering patterned paper behind my double matted photo in a staggered design. One of the techniques you’ll find I frequently use is inking the edges of my paper. I LOVE this look and inked all of the paper in this layout using red ink.
Next is the embellishing, always a FUN creative process for me! I enjoy taking the embellishments I have and combining them to make new ones. The photo portrays my favorite lighted boat in the boat parade so I wanted to signify that by creating an Award Ribbon embellishment to place at the bottom left of the page.

I used the chipboard stickers and paper to do this I cut a pennant out of the red/green ‘hounds tooth’ paper to match the Dec. 25 pennant. Using a scallop circle punch I created the background piece of my ribbon with the lined paper from the ‘Cards’ patterned paper.
For the “holiday” title at the top left of the photo I cut out the word “holiday” from the Card patterned paper and matted it with Dark Red cardstock. I attached the red ribbon behind the “holiday”.

I cut out the title “Sparkle” using my Cricut and Teresa Collins Dec. 25th cartridge, popped it up off the page with pop dots to add dimension, and then using Silver Stickles, wrote the word “Sparkle” through the center of the word die cut.

To include a journaling section in the layout I selected the ‘Twas’ Tag, punched out the inside and cut off the saying. I attached it below the photo on the bottom right with a fabric brad. This placement helped to create balance to the layout as well as a small space for journaling.
Lastly, to add my own sparkle to the page (another thing I LOVE to do!), I used Xmas Red, Green and Silver Stickles to the embellishments. I also like to use the Stickles around the edges of the paper and/or embellishments to make them stand out.

To recreate this layout, use the following supplies:
· Paper-Dot, Plaid, Poinsettia, Snowflake, Card, Dark Red Card stock, White Cardstock,
· Embellishments: Layered Chipboard Stickers, Twas Tag, Fabric Brads, Embossed Stickers
· Red Ink
· Pop dots
· Stickles: Xmas Red, Silver, Green
· Scalloped Circle Punch
· Die Cut Machine to make “Sparkle” title
· Red Ribbon

If you are like me, and like to create 2-page layouts, here is a second layout to go along with the first one.

Shine Layout

The cluster of embellishments in this layout include the chipboard sticker ‘Joy’ tag, the embossed ‘Snowflake’ sticker, ‘Jolly’ mini badge and sheer red ribbon.

The word “Shine” is written with Silver Stickles to match the “Sparkle” title on the opposing page layout.

My favorite part of this layout is the small picture I placed at the top right of the page. The idea here was to incorporate a small photo as part of embellishing the page. I cropped a photo down to 3”x 2”, matted it and popped it off the page with pop dots. I cut one of the crochet doily embellishments in half and place it behind the photo. Then, I layered the ‘Merry Christmas’ mini badge and ribbon on top of that.

I used the same layering of patterned papers, photo matting, stickles technique and page placement of embellishments as in the first page so that this layout would work with the first one as a 2-page spread.
Are you in the holiday spirit now? I know I sure am! Visit Fotobella.com and add We R Memory Keepers-Yuletide I Want It All Bundle to your shopping cart and get to scrappin’ those holiday photos!
Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas Cards & Tag

With the holidays fast approaching do you have your holiday cards ready to go? If you need some ideas and inspiration here are a few cards that I designed with Fotobella's We R Memory Keepers Yuletide-I Want It All Bundle.

The Yuletide Collection is perfect for those who love traditional Christmas colors and phrases!

Here’s a step-by-step tutorial to make the Merry Christmas Card:

1.Choose Dot Paper Side B and cut a 12 in. x 5 in. piece of paper using your paper trimmer.
2.Fold in half length wise. This will be the base of your card.

3.Using a corner rounder, round the four corners at the bottom edge of the card.

4.Choose the Partridge Paper and place the paper about two thirds up the Wood grain paper of your card base.
5.Trim to fit.
6.Using the corner rounder, round the bottom corners of the Partridge Paper.
7.Adhere the Partridge paper piece to the bottom two thirds of the card base.

8.Select the Poinsietta Paper and cut a strip 5 in. long and wide enough to have an entire row of white Poinsiettas.
9.Adhere the strip over the seam of the Partridge Paper and Wood Grain Paper.
10.With your scissors, hand cut out a white Poinsetta from the sheet of Poinsetta paper.

11.With a paper piercer, pierce a hole in the center of the Poinsetta you just cut out.

12.Select the white crochet flower and use a red brad to secure the Poinsetta to the center
of the crochet flower.

13.Select the embossed Merry Christmas die cut tag.
14.Ink the edges of the tag with red ink.
15.Tie the red/white polka dot ribbon through the hole at the top of the die cut.
16.Adhere to the right center of the card using popdots.
17.Adhere the crochet flower embellishment you made to the left of the Merry Christmas
diecut using a glue dot.

18.With the brown Stickles, outline the strip of red Poinsietta paper edge on the top and bottom.

19. Ink all the edges of the card with red ink.
And that's not all....check out the tag I made that can also be used as a gift card holder. Hang it on the Christmas tree until gift giving time. I like to have extra gifts "hanging" around for those unexpected visitors who might pop in for some holiday cheer. You don't want them to leave empty handed do you? Hang a couple of these on your Christmas tree with gift cards in them and you won't disappoint.

Hope you all have a very happy holiday season!

Scrapbook Shopping Across the States

Yikes!  I’ve been gone awhile!  I’ve been traveling…internet access was SCARCE and so…no posts L  Now I’m back and I want to share what I’ve been up to J  In my travels the past few weeks, I thought it would be fun to pop in scrapbook stores along the way.  I frequented several Hobby Lobby stores in New Mexico.  Gosh I LOVE Hobby Lobby!

The most fun I had though was searching for scrapbook stores when I passed through big cities.  In Flagstaff, Arizona I came across this really cute store called About Memories and More.

I was fortunate to come across a great deal on a Xyron machine!  I was exicted J There are a lot of cute project inspirations throughout the store and some really great product.

The crop room in the back is fantastic!  There was a class going on when I was there, taught by the store owner.  She's super nice and although she was busy teaching she also took the time to make sure I got the help I needed while shopping.  This was a great stop and I recommend it to anyone in the area or if you are just passing through like I was, to stop by and say hi, take a look around and see what goodies just have to have!  For more info, go the website http://www.aboutmemoriesandmore.com/

Another great stop was in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Scraps Galore, this is an awesome store.  I’m a Quickcutz fan and let me tell you, this store has a vast selection of die cuts.  They have TONS of great product ,definitely a lot of my favorites like Simple Stories, Basic Grey, Bo bunny, Quick Quotes, Echo Park, Authentique just to name a few.  And can you believe I had the dumb luck of showing up on Sale day!  Woohoo!

I picked up a bunch of great stuff, new dies, paper, embellies, etc.  The staff is really nice and super helpful.  The crop room is amazing also.  I was there on a Friday night and even inquired about doing a drop in crop…sadly they weren’t offering one that night.  Bummer. I would most definitely come back to this store the next time I’m in town!  Check out their website for more information http://scrapsgalore.com/

Thanks for such a fabulous shopping experience!

Well, another weekend is upon us.  With Thanksgiving rapidly approaching I know many of you are busy planning, cooking, etc.  I hope you can still find some time to be creative J

Happy Thanksgiving!
